Carbon Fibre Helmets

A lighter shell means less fatigue on your neck over a long day, which is the whole case for carbon fibre. The material itself does not change the certification requirement, every helmet here still has to pass ECE 22.06, carbon just gets there at a lower weight than polycarbonate or fibreglass.

Expect to pay more for it, and expect the finish to matter, a visible weave usually signals a genuine carbon layup rather than a painted shell. We recommend trying one on before committing if you can, since the weight difference is most noticeable in how the helmet sits on your neck at a stop, not just on the scale. Compare against our standard full-face range if the price gap is the deciding factor.

Q: Is a carbon-fibre helmet safer than a standard shell?
A: Not necessarily safer, both pass the same ECE 22.06 test. Carbon just gets you there at a lower weight, which helps with fatigue on longer rides.

Q: Why do carbon helmets cost more?
A: The material and the layup process cost more to produce than polycarbonate. You're paying for the weight saving, not extra protection.
